Kevin Todeschi: Bruce, why dont we
just start with your giving us a little background about how
you first became interested in the Edgar Cayce material and
perhaps how that evolved into your interest in working with
the Cayce remedies. |
 |
Bruce Baar: Well, to get to the beginning
Id have to rewind all the way back to when I was a kid
and my mother told me about Edgar Cayce. I was very young
at the time and she had just finished reading the Cayce biography,
There Is a River. |
| |
|
| The part that stuck
in my brain was the fact of this man who could lie down and
come up with cures and remedies for people who had an illness.
Part of the reason it made such an impression on me may have
been due to the fact that I had really bad asthma and allergies
when I was young - such a bad case that sometimes I had to
stay home from school. There were times when I literally couldnt
breathe. |
| |
|
| After finding out about
Cayce, my mother got some information from the readings on
the treatment of asthma and allergies in order to help me.
Some of the ingredients Cayce recommended were hard to track
down. I remember that both of my parents had to really work
hard to gather all of these ingredients - they even got a
neighbor to help. Finally, they ended up putting all of the
ingredients together and made the best Cayce formula they
could for my asthma with what they had available at the time. |
Bruce was very young when his parents used Cayce remedies
to help his health problems.
|
| If it had not been for
my mother and father going to so much trouble, I probably
would have never tried the Cayce remedies until much later.
Today, when we make Herbal Breathing® formula at Baar
Products for the lungs and sinuses, the smell of that inhalant
brings back memories of when I was a kid. |
| |
|
| As I got older I read
more and more about the Cayce material. As I went through
school and on to college, I always kept coming back to the
Cayce information. I always felt the drive to make some of
the things he recommended in those readings. |
| |
|
| When I was in college,
I was dirt poor. However, when Hugh Lynn Cayce and A.R.E.
began promoting the fact that they wanted to build a new Library/Conference
center back in the earlier 1970s, I really wanted to help
with that project. Even though I didnt have much money,
I donated what I could to the building fund. Later, I cant
tell you how much it meant to me when I first visited A.R.E.
and went up to the library and saw that they had on display
an enormous book of names of individuals who had helped build
the building by contributing to the project. My name was in
there. It was truly a wonderful feeling. |
| |
|
| Q.
After college, didnt you pursue a background in health? |
| |
|
| A.
I worked for 18 years for Johnson & Johnson - probably
the best health-care company out there. But even at J &
J, I kept pursuing this interest I had in the Cayce readings,
especially tracking down some of the ingredients and products
he recommended. |
| |
|
| My first position was
in sales, and I worked up to Area Manager. But my real desire
was to stay out in the field so I could pursue my side interest,
tracking down the Cayce stuff. I also tracked down some of
the people who had had readings and people who knew about
many of the appliances and medicines that Cayce had recommended
in those readings. For example, the appliances were supposed
to help the bodys own electrical system and assist the
physical body in healing itself of all kinds of illnesses. |
| |
|
| One of the individuals
who had readings from Edgar Cayce was a man named Franklin
Bradley - he was a paint salesman and inventor. However, on
the side Bradley had obtained readings for some of the inventions
he was working on. I tracked down his son and corresponded
with him. He actually sent me some drawings of the items that
he and his father had made based on suggestions in the readings. |
| |
|
I continued traveling
throughout the United States with J&J. I went into various
clinical laboratories and also the university and government
research laboratories. I was in National Institutes of Health
and the various large clinical laboratories that did testing.
During my travels I tracked down a man who made atomic iodine,
one of the products that Cayce recommended. I also met Billie
Babcoke in Virginia Beach because her late husband, Lester,
had made the Wet Cell Appliance and some of the other materials
for years. I did a lot of talking with Billie and she really
wanted me to carry on the making of the products that Lester
had made.
|
| |
|
| It was while I was traveling
and had access to a lot of this equipment in the clinical
labs, that I started to test things on my own - testing various
products to see how they worked. One of the products that
we made available at J&J was a thing called a Flowcytometer.
It is a piece of equipment that can take a drop of blood,
analyze it and tell you all the constituents in the blood
and basically help diagnose any disease state in that person.
That reminded me of a Cayce quote from 1927 when he said that
a day would come when you could take a drop of blood and diagnose
the condition of any individual (283-2). The point is that
even my work at J&J continued to inspire my interest in
the Cayce readings. |
| |
|
| Q.
Bruce, youve mentioned the Cayce-recommended
appliances several times. Do you want to describe them? |
| |
|
| A. Well,
the two major appliances are basically the Radiac
and the Wet Cell. The Wet Cell is similar to a liquid battery
and it produces an active charge. Cayce talked about using
the Wet
Cell battery for some pretty serious health conditions.
He recommended it as a part of an overall program, along with
diet, massage, and adjustments. Cayce believed that both the
Wet Cell and the Radiac could help a physical body to return
to its normal state of homeostasis [internal stability]. |
| |
|
| The Radiac is not really
a battery; it uses the bodys energy and is designed
to balance the body. The Radiac
was something that Cayce mentioned would be good for everyone.
He said it helps balance the system, helps improve your meditation,
and helps you to relax. But, theres something else he
said it helps you to do - bring you close to your lifes
purpose and connect you with the divine. Which is pretty awesome.
We feel, when we make this product, and make it available
to people, its a very sacred process. |
| |
|
| Q.
How did you start selling some of the appliances and products? |
| |
|
| A.
It really began as a sort of hobby. People found out that
I was tracking down these ingredients and trying to make the
appliances on my own. People would call me and ask me to make
it available to them. I was putting these products together
in my basement. There wasnt a lot of demand at first
- I might get one order every two or three weeks. |
| |
|
| Gradually, word-of-mouth
caused my Cayce hobby to pick up. Pretty soon, my wife Kathy
and I would be pulling together orders for Cayce remedies
at night after working all day, packing them in the basement
and then sending them out the next day. |
| |
|
| As
I look back, its like I really didnt have a choice
in the matter as to whether or not I should do this. If I
look back in time and ask, did I consciously decide that this
is what I wanted? No. It just happened. It happened because
of my connection to this material. It happened because of
my interest in the products. It happened because I met so
many helpful people involved in this work. |
| |
|
| Q.
When you first started, did Kathy have another job
too? |
| |
|
| A. Yes,
Kathy was a registered dental hygienist. However, the demand
for Cayce products grew to such an extent that it started
to interfere with both our jobs. Eventually, both Kathy and
I had to make the choice to go into Baar Products full-time.
Today, the little company that started in the basement processes
about 1,000 orders a month. |
| |
|
| It was something that
happened as a natural metamorphosis from a job I was doing
in life to something that became extremely important and rewarding.
I found that when I worked with people to make the product
for them, I felt like my life was much more rewarding. It
had meaning. Providing a service with a purpose has great
joy in it for me. So the transition occurred naturally. One
day I made the choice to follow my true passion. |
| |
|
| I get a tremendous thrill
from my work. I love what I do - I get energy from it. Im
constantly thinking of new products and I cant wait
to get to work in the morning. This has been very rewarding
for me. |
| |
|
| Q.
Youve really grown since you first started this part-time
hobby in your basement! |
| |
|
| A. Yeah,
a funny thing happened when I dedicated my energies to it
full-time. As soon as I made that choice, we started to grow
about 25-30 percent a year - consistent growth. But just like
a garden, growth needs attention. Youve got to fertilize
it properly. Youve got to give it the right food and
inspiration and ideas and thoughts. Youve got to pull
out the weeds. You have to bring together the right people.
It takes a tremendous amount of intent. But it grows and its
been doing very, very well. Our customers and employees are
like family to us. |
| |
|
| Q.
What did you start making after the appliances? |
| |
|
| A.
The appliances had a great deal that went with them, as well
as various solutions that needed to be used. There were a
lot of sources that needed to be tracked down for each product.
For example, just getting the proper carbon steel for the
Radiac was a real challenge. We would buy it from a supply
house and they would tell us that it was a certain percent
carbon but it turned out not to be. So I hired a mill and
I had to do a mill run to get the proper 60 percent carbon
steel. That cost a fortune. But, each one is the same and
every one will be the same for a long period of time. |
| |
|
| In addition to the appliances
and everything that entailed, we started making the Ioxan
Herbal Gum-Massage and Mouthwash. Its a wonderful
product and contains prickly ash bark, sodium chloride, calcium
chloride, and iodine. Cayce recommended it in the readings
(where it was called Ipsab) for pyorrhea, which is now called
gingivitis. People have also stated that it has been very
helpful for canker sores or simply brushing your teeth. My
wife used Ioxan in her dental hygiene work with excellent
results. |
| |
|
| One of the next products
was the Body
Beautiful Massage Oil that the readings suggested, consisting
of peanut oil, olive oil, and lanolin. |
| |
|
| Q.
For someone who is just becoming interested in the
Cayce material and the Cayce remedies, what do you think a
Cayce home medicine chest might include? |
| |
|
| A.
Well, the first thing I would say is castor oil and castor
oil packs. For the teeth and the gums, they might choose Ioxan.
For upset stomachs, many individuals like the classic cola
syrup. |
| |
|
| Q.
Whats the cola syrup good for? |
| |
|
| A.
Cayce talked about the fact that it was good for upset stomachs.
If you feel a little nauseous, you can pour about an ounce
of pure cola syrup (without the carbonation) on some cracked
ice and just sip that. |
| |
|
| Q.
What else might be a part of the Cayce home medicine
chest? |
| |
|
| A.
Glyco-Thymoline
would be another big one. Its a mouthwash that Cayce
suggested would be good for sinuses as well as mucosity. The
Palma
Christi Skin Lotion is another popular item. It contains
castor oil, cocoa butter, lanolin, natural vitamin E, and
almond oil in a really nice creamy formula for the skin that
doesnt leave the hands greasy. It penetrates and softens
the hands. We also have Palma
Christi bar soap, Olivae
soap, and Olivae
Shampoo. |
| |
|
| Q.
What would you say your most popular products are today? |
| |
|
| A.
The most popular product would be the Cold
Coin, which you simply put in your pocket near the groin
area. Cayce suggested that it could help ionize the system
and prevent a cold. We cant really claim that it does
that because there have never been any clinical trials, but
many individuals swear by it. Actually, we cant claim
that any of the products cure anything because its against
the law for us to do that. Clinical studies need to be done
and results evaluated by the FDA for people to say a product
cures a specific medical condition. So, none of the products
we make available are recommended for any medical condition,
because its against the law. But we make these products
available for individuals who want to research the readings
or explore some of the experiences that other people have
claimed to have with these products. Castor oil is another
popular product. |
| |
|
| Q.
Can you explain why Cayce recommended Castor
Oil so frequently? |
| |
|
| A.
I believe he recommended it over 1,000 times in the readings.
The most important use he talked about was how to use it as
a pack to help stimulate eliminations. He also suggested that
it could be helpful for cleansing and stimulating the liver.
One of the biggest problems that people have with castor oil
packs is that theyre a hassle, so weve created
a disposable pack that is much easier to work with. |
| |
|
| Q.
Didnt some research in the 1980s suggest that castor
oil packs helped stimulate the production of T-cells which,
in turn, helped to stimulate the bodys own immune system? |
| |
|
| A.
Yes. There was a preliminary study done by Fet-zer Institute.
As a matter of fact, Fetzer also conducted a double-blind
study done on the Radiac that shows that it increased dopamine,
which is one of the catecholamines of the body that helps
with stress, helps a person to relax; it helps with the electrical
system of the body. The Radiac
Book is excellent on this subject. |
| |
|
| There is a book out
called The Body Electric by Dr. Robert Beck-er, who was talking
about the bodys electrical current back in the 1970s.
He actually did a test study in which if he cut off a salamanders
limb the salamander would grow that limb back because it sent
an electrical charge to the area where the limb was cut. That
electrical charge was around minus 23 millivolts [a mV=1/1000
volt]. Weve had the Baar Wet Cell Battery checked and
have found that it is producing around minus 26 to minus 30
millivolts. |
| |
|
| One of the most interesting
experiences we had with our Wet Cell was with a man named
David Atkinson. He called me because he was having a very
serious neurological problem that at the time was diagnosed
as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS. Later it was diagnosed
as a subset of that, still under the same category, but as
motor-neuron disease. I was with him when he got one of the
tests done at the University of Pennsylvania. |
| |
|
| He was told to go home
and get his life in order, because he was going to die within
a year or two. It was a death sentence. He found out about
Cayce and he wanted to use the Baar
Wet Cell Battery, so we made it for him. He used it, followed
the treatments of diet, massage, attitude, spiritual ideals
- the whole thing. He followed everything and he ended up
getting phenomenal results. That was well over 10 years ago,
and to this day David still speaks around the world about
his spectacular recovery. He even wrote a book about his experience
called Hope
Springs Eternal. |
| |
|
| Davids not the
only one who has claimed these kind of results. I was in a
pretty bad car accident back in 1985, and I used our Wet Cell,
the Radiac, and all the solutions to help rebuild my damaged
nervous system, because thats what Cayce said to do.
Its phenomenal. |
